Timothy Kavanaugh, MD, is a board-certified and fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in shoulder, hip, and knee pain in Scottsdale, Arizona. As the founder of AZ Ortho, Dr. Kavanaugh provides exceptional orthopedic care to the local community using the latest surgical and nonsurgical techniques. 

Dr. Kavanaugh completed his medical degree at Chicago Medical School in North Chicago, Illinois. He then went on to complete an Orthopedic Surgery residency at Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio. 

After residency, Dr. Kavanaugh completed a fellowship in Adult Reconstruction(joint replacement and revision) in Albuquerque, New Mexico under the direction of Dr. Richard E. White. 

At AZ Ortho, Dr. Kavanaugh is committed to restoring your mobility and quality of life, helping you find the best treatments for your condition. His goal with every procedure is to help improve your quality of life. From physical therapy and anti-inflammatory medications to joint injections and replacement surgery, he evaluates your whole health to determine the proper approach and deliver the lasting pain relief you need. 

Dr. Kavanaugh has successfully performed over 8,000 joint replacements and revisions in his career. He is constantly evaluating new techniques to incorporate in the operating room in order to improve patient outcomes. He currently uses multiple different robotic techniques in the OR for both hip and knee replacements.  He also uses patient-specific guides for shoulder replacements. 

He is a fellow of both the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons and the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons.

Outside of the office, Dr. Kavanaugh enjoys fishing, golfing, traveling, and spending quality time with his family.

J. Tyler Enders, DO, is a fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon at AZ Ortho in Scottsdale, Arizona. Dr. Enders specializes in sports related injuries, shoulder pathology, and arthroscopic procedures.

Dr. Enders conducted extensive research on cartilage restoration and orthopedic pathology while studying at Saint Louis University and the University of Pennsylvania. He then completed his residency training in New York, working alongside the nation's leaders in orthopedics in some of the most prestigious hospital systems.

Following residency, Dr. Enders completed his Orthopedic Sports Fellowship at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, where he received a broad exposure to many types of athletic injuries and various treatment techniques at the forefront of orthopedic care. While in his fellowship, he trained extensively alongside Dr. J. Michael Wiater, one of the country's busiest shoulder surgeons, specializing in complex shoulder arthroplasty and revisions.

Dr. Enders is passionate about helping his patients regain their independence and mobility. He is dedicated to providing the most comprehensive and innovative care from your initial evaluation through your post-operative rehabilitation. Dr. Enders believes in treating each patient like family by getting to know them and giving them the time and attention to have all their concerns addressed. Having had sports injuries and orthopedic procedures himself, he can empathize with his patients and is committed to providing the best possible outcomes.

He is a fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Arthroscopic Association of North America, and the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine. He is also a member of the Shoulder Society of Arizona.

In his free time, Dr. Enders enjoys spending time with his wife and three children, hiking, rock climbing, traveling, and playing guitar.

Elise Wood, PA-C, is a Physician Assistant at AZ Ortho in Scottsdale, Arizona. Elise specializes in hip, shoulder, and knee injuries, assisting in surgical procedures, and aiding patients with their pre- and post-operative care.

Elise attended the University of Utah, graduating in 2011 with her bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry (minor). Following her undergraduate studies, she went on to complete her master’s degree in physician assistant studies at Midwestern University in Glendale, Arizona in 2015. 

She holds professional memberships in the American Academy of Physician Assistants, the Arizona State Association of Physician Assistants and the Physician Assistants in Orthopedic Surgery. Elise was also involved in several volunteer efforts, including providing health care to underserved populations in Phoenix and participating in homeless outreach programs. 

Elise has several years of experience in orthopedic care, and as a physician assistant, she is happy to counsel patients on better ways to improve their experience after procedures. She possesses valuable knowledge in a variety of specialties, including joint reconstruction and replacement and wound care.
